FARC-EP condemns assassination of Qassem Soleimani

Defend world peace

Our condolences and solidarity to the Iranian people who mourn the brutal murder of General Qassem Soleimani, ordered by Donald Trump and Mike Pompeo. We share in the sorrow of the family of the general, an unswerving man who raised the flag of anti-imperialist resistance with dignity.

With the assassination of this important general, the White House has engaged in its greatest strategic error of recent years. With one moment, it not only violated Iraq’s sovereignty and international law, but also irresponsibly shot at the tinderbox of a new world war.

We must oppose the enthronement of the practice of murder of government representatives and officials for not being approved by Washington or for representing other cultures.

Donald Trump’s turbulent mind is a terrible threat to world peace. Let’s not allow humanity’s fate to be traced by a loco president. Iran is a power and as such must be respected; it has the ability to respond and a brilliant history of struggle and resistance.

The consequences of this error remain to be seen. The Iranian leadership has announced that the United States will no longer find peace.

We join the cry of the people who protested in many U.S. cities and congregated in front of the White House, demanding the immediate withdrawal of Yankee troops from the Middle East.

We call on the peoples of the world to mobilize for peace, in support of a diplomatic solution to the crisis, which must be overcome with tangible facts and not with deceitful words as Washington usually does.
