Insurgent jungles of Colombia, September 7, 2019
Compatriots, we send revolutionary greeting and our best wishes, in the midst of the adversity imposed by the current situation due to the dirty war and institutional treachery.
|Bogotá, July 26.|
According to police reports, the comrades were shot dead by hitmen in a car on Friday while having breakfast together at a hotel in the city of Cucuta. Two fell on the spot while Maldonado Gamboa (Harold) died in the hospital as a result of the serious injuries he received.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army, regardless of the rumors that have surrounded this crime, reject it and condemn it with determination, expressing that it is not permissible to tolerate this or any act produced by the unbridled dirty war developing throughout the country, against those who in good faith gave way to legality, of whom more than 150 have already been mercilessly killed, and against the social movement that already records the death by blood and fire of at least a thousand of its leaders.
The FARC-EP laments these murders, and express our feelings of sorrow and solidarity to the families, friends and relatives of the victims, while calling for closing ranks against the misrule that has overtaken Colombia, and seeking alternatives to take a new course that translates into tranquility and good living for the people of the community and for citizens in general.
Reiterating what was said in our recent manifesto of August 2019, we say that “Since the signing of the Peace Agreement in Havana, and the guerrilla disarmament in exchange for nothing, the killing does not cease… amidst the indifference and indolence of the state.
“When we signed the Havana Agreement, we did it with the conviction that it was possible to change the lives of the humble and the dispossessed. But the state has not fulfilled even the most important of its obligations, which is to guarantee the lives of its citizens, and particularly to prevent murder for political reasons. All this: the trap, the betrayal and the perfidy, the unilateral modification of the text of the agreement, the breach of the commitments on the part of the state, the judicial assemblies and the legal insecurity, forced us to return to the mountains…. History will record in its pages that we were forced to retake our weapons.”
No more dirty war, no more crimes against unarmed people who still believe in peace.
