Today marks the 135th birthday of Artem (Fyodor Sergeyev), March 19, 1883 – July 24, 1921.

One of the most famous people of Donbass. Revolutionary, Bolshevik. Active participant of the liberation movement since 1901.

From 1918 — Chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Soviet Republic, proclaimed January 30 (February 12), 1918, at the Fourth Congress of Soviets of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies of the Donetsk and Krivoy Rog basins in Kharkov.

In 1918-1919 — one of the organizers of the struggle against the troops of the Central Rada, Cossack ataman Kaledin, and Austro-German invaders.

In the summer of 1919 — an active participant and leader of the struggle against the troops of General Denikin in the Donbass.
