Donetsk Komsomol condemns detention of Ukrainian youth festival delegates

Today, October 13, 2017, at the checkpoint “Goptovka” on the Ukrainian-Russian border, the State Border Service of Ukraine detained a delegation of the Komsomol of Ukraine headed by First Secretary of the Leninist Komsomol of Ukraine (LKSMU) Central Committee Mikhail Kononovich.

Komsomol members are traveling to the city of Sochi to participate in the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS), organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY).

From calls to boycott the forthcoming WFYS, the ruling Nazi-oligarchic regime in Ukraine has moved to direct threats and attacks on independent, democratic, free-thinking young people. The Kiev junta is panicked by the participation of young Ukrainian Communists in a progressive youth event, afraid that the world will hear the truth about the actual state of affairs in Ukraine.

Let us recall that the main objective of the World Federation of Democratic Youth is to unite various youth organizations in the struggle against imperialism and reaction, for peace, democracy, national independence, in defense of political, social and economic rights and interests of the youth.

The XIX WFYS in Sochi will be held under the slogan: “For peace, solidarity and social justice, we are fighting against imperialism — respecting our past, we are building the future!” Recall that the Komsomol of Ukraine is a member of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, which organizes the festival.

The Makeeva City Committee of the Leninist Komsomol of the Donetsk People’s Republic (LKSMDNR) resolutely condemns the actions of the representatives of the Kiev regime, who committed illegal acts against the Ukrainian communist youth.
