Red Bloc: 72 years since Moldova’s liberation from fascism

‘Exactly 72 years ago, the red flag of freedom was again raised over the capital of Soviet Moldavia’

Statement of the political party “Our Home is Moldova” (Red Bloc) on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Moldova’s liberation from fascism

The political party “Our Home is Moldova” (Red Bloc) congratulates the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and all concerned citizens of Moldova on the 72nd anniversary Moldova’s liberation from fascist invaders!

Exactly 72 years ago, the red flag of freedom, of the workers and multinational people, was again raised over the capital of Soviet Moldavia. After that, despite the heavy losses suffered during the occupation, despite the dire consequences of the war, our region embarked on a period of rehabilitation and modernization which Moldova has not managed to repeat during the last quarter century — the years of so-called “Independence.”

Moldova’s liberation day symbolizes the heroism of Soviet soldiers in the struggle against fascism, the dedication of thousands of young patriots, who despite years of occupation continued to struggle in the anti-fascist underground. This day reminds us of the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims among our compatriots during the Nazi occupation under the right-wing Antonescu regime.

At a time when Moldova is once again a captured state under the oligarchic regime, the bounden duty of every patriot, to whom the road of struggle against fascism was shown by our grandparents and great-grandparents, is to again fight for the liberation of the motherland like our heroic ancestors. Only together, united, the multinational Moldovan people will be able to rescue Moldova from captivity by the criminal group of Vlad Plahotniuc and again lead it on the path of restoration and modernization!

Glory to the Soviet Soldier-Liberator! Glory to Moldova!
