19th World Festival of Youth & Students to be held in Russia in 2017

February 7: Today, the World Federation of Democratic Youth and international student organizations attending the International Consultative Meeting decided to hold the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Russia in 2017, according to the official website of the Russian Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Last Monday, the WFDY delegation arrived in Russia on a familiarization visit, during which they visited key facilities and met with representatives of youth organizations of our country, as well as the leaders of political parties in parliament.
Youth organizations presented the application for the festival to the ministry on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin last November.
These festivals were held here twice in Soviet times: in 1957 and 1985.

In 2017, the 19th World Youth Festival will be in Russia!

By Darya Mitina, United Communist Party (OKP)
Yes, we did it.
The 19th World Festival of Youth and Students will be held in Moscow and Sochi. The vote of the General Council of the WFDY and the International Consultative Meeting was unanimous. The 19th World Festival will be held here during the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
Darya Mitina (right) and WFDY members lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,
Lenin’s Mausoleum, and graves of prominent Soviet leaders in Moscow, Feb. 6.
More than a year of hard work, stress, meetings, presentations, discussions, sleepless nights, phone calls, flights, letters, meetings, conflicts, scandals, and again, hard, hard work. And there is no such thing as impossible.
Very tired and exhausted, I’ll probably sleep for a couple of days.
But this is just the beginning. It’s hard to imagine what awaits us in the remaining year and a half.

Join the WFYS 2017 social media group

The Russian Young Communist League (RKSM) created a social media group to collect questions, suggestions and creative ideas for the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow. There you can ask questions about the World Federation of Democratic Youth — an organization that for 70 years has been at the forefront of the international festival movement. If you want to clarify something or make suggestions (since we are starting to develop the concept, program and activities of the 2017 festival), you are welcome to.
