Brussels protest against Ukraine’s accession to NATO

On July 7, an anti-war demonstration called “Make the World Great Again” took place in Brussels, Belgium, and on July 8, a “No to War, No to NATO” counter summit. Both events were directed against the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump at the NATO summit, which will be held on July 11-12, the correspondent of Vperyod reports.

“More than 5,000 people took part in the march. They included representatives of anti-war organizations from all over Europe. Our ‘International Platform’ formed one column. The position of the protesters was: “No expansion of the NATO bloc,” “Stop aggressive politics,” “Peace on Earth.” We hope that we managed to draw public attention to the situation in Ukraine,” said human-rights and community activist Oleg Music.

Because Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will attend the forthcoming NATO summit, the demonstrators also opposed the involvement of Ukraine in the alliance. During the rally they held a banner with the inscription “Ukraine + NATO = Third World War.”
