Petrenko: Everyone should come out April 24 to protest Moldova’s oligarch regime

April 20: Leader of the opposition party Red Bloc and political prisoner Grigory Petrenko urged citizens to participate en masse in the anti-oligarchy protests which will be held on Sunday, April 24, in Chisinau, Moldova.

Grigory Petrenko
“I want to appeal to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, to all supporters, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political color, to unite against a common evil — the current regime, the government dominated by [oligarch Vlad] Plahotniuc, which is destroying our country.

“I urge all people to come out to protest on April 24, irrespective of language, political views, or ethnic origin. We must unite, otherwise they will continue to plunder the country and violate our rights,” said Grigory Petrenko.

It should be noted that the statement was made on Wednesday, April 20, after the Riscani district court decided to postpone consideration of the case of the Petrenko Group political prisoners, and a likely change to the measure of restraint.

Recall that the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” (DA Platform) announced an April 24 mass protest against the oligarchic regime after the decision of the Central Executive Committee on March 30 (prohibiting a constitutional referendum which the DA Platform gathered and presented more than 400,000 signatures in support of). The appeal was supported by a number of opposition political forces.
