A year ago, on February 19, 2015, the city of Debaltsevo in the Donetsk People’s Republic was liberated. Soldiers from the Volunteer Communist Detachement (DKO) formed the vanguard of the combined unit of the Ghost Brigade of Alexei Mozgovoi in the assault on Debaltsevo.
Commander “Arkadich” (Pyotr Biryukov) was appointed commander of all brigade forces in Debaltsevo, and other teams’ units voluntarily placed themselves under his command. After the victory they hoisted the Red Flag over Debaltsevo.
