Moldova: Protest in Chișinău supports Red Bloc political prisoners

Today, September 13, in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Chișinău, a picket was held in support of the political prisoners who were arrested with brute force last week following a peaceful rally in front of the building.

The detainees are Grigory Petrenko, leader of the party Our Home is Moldova (Red Bloc), Mikhail Amerberg, Pavel Grigorchuk, Alexander Roshko, Oleg Buzni, Voya Jurat, and Andrei Druz. All were initially detained for 72 hours, and subsequently the Court of Riscani sector extended the detention of all arrestees to 30 days.

Recall that a peaceful protest was held on September 6, which began at the building of the Academy of Sciences. Then protesters against the oligarchic regime, corruption and predatory tariffs marched to the building of the Prosecutor General’s Office, demanding the resignation of the prosecutor general controlled by the ruling alliance.

An attempt to set up a tent camp on the sidewalk near the steps of the building, which is a public place, was brutally suppressed. In the clashes provoked by the police, many people were injured, including the elderly, some of whom were hospitalized.
