Odessa Deputy Alexey Albu joins Ghost Brigade: ‘My job is organizing’

By Alexey Albu
Odessa Regional Council Deputy in exile
Coordinator, Union Borotba (Struggle)

July 7: News of my membership in the Ghost Brigade spread with great speed! (This makes me happy.) [See Ukrainian press report, ‘Odessa deputy joins Ghost Brigade militants’]

But I would like to clarify a few points.

Alexey Albu (left) with Ghost Brigade Commander Alexei Mozgovoi in May 2015.
I actually finished the reserve officer training program at the Odessa Institute of Land Forces. But I didn’t join the Ghost to fight.

That’s not my role.

And it’s not about fear. Everyone is afraid. But this fear can be overcome.

The thing is my attitude to life. I have no right to select it.

I can’t kill a person. Even the most recent villains. If I kill – I will be tormented for the rest of my life, worrying that I robbed children of their parent.

So I do not fight.

Today I was given a certificate without a permit to carry or possess weapons.

My job is organizing.

I will do everything I can to overthrow the nationalist government in Kiev and the oligarchs and build a new, more just society!

Alexei Borisovitch Mozgovoi gathered around him the people struggling for that!

I want to help organize the work of the war economy. I know about all the social obligations of the Brigade, like the work of the social canteens, which every day becomes more and more difficult. .. How the fighters give ordinary citizens their last piece of bread.

I really hope that things will change! And that I can help.
