Brigade commander Alexei Mozgovoi, along with his Ghost team, have become part of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LC). This was reported April 2 by Leonid Tkachenko, head of the investigation department of the Prosecutor General of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
He also explained that the 4th Battalion for the territorial defense of the LC has been created based on the Ghost Brigade. The battalion will perform the functions of maintaining public order and strengthening the Commandant’s office.
It should be noted that creation of battalions of this type is required by the provisions of the decree “On the territorial defense of the LC,” signed by LC leader Igor Plotnitsky on March 7, 2015.
According to the decree by the head of the LC, all armed groups not included in the People’s Militia of the LC, territorial defense units and law enforcement agencies, and who do not freely surrender all weapons and ammunition, will be declared illegal beginning April 5, 2015. They will be prosecuted and law enforcement operations undertaken to disarm them.
