On Sunday, May 10, Chișinău hosted the Extraordinary Congress of the “Our Home is Moldova” party, in which the organization was renamed “Red Bloc.”
The congress was attended by delegates of all the party organizations in the country. In addition to the name change, a communist political program was adopted.
Because the majority of party members are former members of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), who were expelled or left its ranks due to [PCRM President Vladimir] Voronin’s policy of conciliation with the country’s ruling oligarchic regime, the Red Bloc congress adopted a new program, based on the 2008 PCRM program.
At the congress, delegates heard speeches about the need to continue the struggle against the anti-people oligarchic regime and any manifestations of xenophobia and neo-fascism, as well as organizing protest actions against the Plakhotnyuk-Filat-Voronin regime. It was noted that the Red Bloc should be a body that can unite all genuine communists and other leftists around common goals and objectives.

The delegates of the party congress adopted a number of declarations. The Red Bloc declared the ruling regime in Moldova to be criminal, and rejected cooperating with it in any form. Delegates of the Red Bloc Congress also condemned the militaristic and bellicose policy of the Moldovan authorities aimed at eliminating the country’s constitutional neutrality. Another declaration condemned the regime’s political repression against opposition activists, demanding the immediate release of political prisoners Pavel Grygorchuk and Mikhail Amerberg from house arrest, as well as an end to all harassment against the opposition. Amerberg and Grygorchuk gave greetings to the congress through video messages, which were broadcast during the discussion.

The Red Bloc Congress decided to send an application to join the Union of Communist Parties – Communist Party of the Soviet Union (UCP-CPSU), as well as the Party of the European Left.
