By Alexey Albu, Union Borotba (Struggle)
The Maidan stood not for democracy, not against the tyrant, not for the European future of Ukraine, and not even to hurt Russia and Putin. In fact, the purpose of Euromaidan was to destroy Ukrainian industry, make Ukrainian society archaic, and eliminate the remaining islets of development in this part of the post-Soviet territory.
This simple idea is obvious now, when we see the consequences of the worst year for Ukraine since the Nazi occupation. If we imagine a Euromaidan checklist, highlighting what was achieved during the “revolution of dignity” and what was not, we get the following picture:
Freedom of speech – failure
Democracy – failure
Human rights – failure
Victory over corruption – failure
Honest courts – failure
Free entry to Europe – failure
Salaries and pensions like in Europe – DOWN THE HOLE!
Destroy Ukraine – ACHEIVED!
To understand who set such tasks, and who really benefited from Euromaidan, look at who now runs the country. For example, the conflict between Kolomoiskiy and Poroshenko.

An important example of the destruction of the industrial potential of the country, but not the only one, can be seen in the collapse of cooperation between Russia and Ukraine in the field of space. When Borotba activists carried out an action in the capital on September 21, 2013, called “Funeral of Ukrainian Independence,” they carried a mock coffin, and it’s now obvious what was lying in it: among other things (the nuclear industry, aviation – more about this in future articles), Ukraine’s status as a space power.

The reason to discuss this now is the latest Dnepr rocket launch at “Clear” [Ясный] base in the Orenburg region. The missile was launched March 26, 2015, and propelled a South Korean dual-use probe satellite into Earth orbit. Apparently, the 22nd launch is really the last for “Dnepr.” The legendary Yuzhmash factory, which produced the fourth-generation missiles, has not been paid for many months, stopped by the current leaders in Kiev for “cooperation with the aggressor,” according to Poroshenko. Instead, Petr Alekseevich promised a contract for the supply of trolleybuses and advised: “But you must work, win, be competitive. Or give way to others.”
Let’s remember how it all began. This missile is one of the few successful experiments in military conversion. The commercial space launch program started in 1999, when it was created by the Russian-Ukrainian International Space Company “Kosmotras.” The commercial carrier rocket “Dnepr” was created based on the latest intercontinental ballistic missile, R-36M, nicknamed “Satan” by NATO, but prohibited under the START-1 Treaty.
During the 16 years of the program, 22 launches were carried out, 21 of them successful, and only one missile “went wrong”. The R-36M, designed for delivery of 10 separating nuclear warheads, was the most powerful ballistic missile, which guaranteed retaliation even after the complete destruction of other military and civilian infrastructure. After the “Satan” became the “Dnepr”, it was able to place 14 satellites into orbit at once (launching April 2007). During the entire period of its existence, the project brought more than half a billion dollars to the joint venture.
The new Ukrainian leadership’s condemnation of this world-class, high-tech production to destruction is quite understandable.
There are European (“Vega”) and American (“Antares”) analogues, but they cost twice as much – $59 million versus $30 million – and lift a smaller load into orbit (“Vega” 2300 kg versus “Dnepr” 3700 kg). A cheap and powerful Ukrainian-Russian competitor, they do not need.
However, in the meantime, U.S. and European cooperation with the “aggressor” continues. The purchase of Russian space propulsion is already old news but a new Russian-American lunar station project began quite recently. In addition, the Russian Federal Space Agency and NASA will continue to jointly operate the ISS until 2024, plan joint missions to Mars, and are considering the construction of a new space station.

Why is it that the biggest world power, to whom Kiev must listen, can cooperate with the “dictator” and Ukraine cannot? As the ancient Slavic proverb says, that which is allowed Jupiter is not allowed a bull.
