A rally of Kirov residents was held on Sunday, March 22, at the Memorial Pioneers Palace, organized by the regional office of the ROT Front with assistance from the youth movement Autonomous Action.
Participants of the rally noted with regret that the Governor and Regional Government ignored the people’s anti-crisis program adopted by the People’s Council on February 14. According to rally participants, the government’s program is inefficient and not aimed at preserving the real economy and social sphere.
Along with the demand for abolition of the law “On the overhaul of indexation of salaries and pensions,” provision of free loans for businesses, and restoration of social benefits, participants at the rally raised new demands. These include nationalization of the banking system and the pharmaceutical industry, lowering the salaries of local officials to the regional average, and reducing the funding of parliamentary parties from 110 rubles to 10 rubles for each vote.
Rally organizers are committed to not only the demands of the people’s anti-crisis program, but also to establishing public control over its implementation through the People’s Council of the Kirov city government.
