Antifascist resolution of European communist youth organizations

From the Editor:

The resolution below was formulated and signed at the XI Meeting of Communist Youth Organizations of Europe in Frankfurt on March 7-8, 2015. This meeting was attended by our delegate, Revolutionary Communist Youth League Central Committee member Mikhail Belyaev.

70th anniversary of the people’s victory over fascism: Youth of Europe against fascism together, then and now!

On May 8-9, 1945, fascism collapsed, ending the greatest crimes against humanity.

The defeat of fascism was the result of a long struggle by anti-fascist forces, especially the Soviet Union, the national liberation movements, where the main role was played by the Communist Parties, and the decisive contribution of youth. The soldiers of the Red Army and the entire population of the Soviet Union made enormous sacrifices and carried on their shoulders the heaviest burden for achieving victory. The victory over fascism brought the USSR great authority in the world.

Seventy years after the victory, the EU has made anti-communism its official policy, and is trying to rewrite history. At the same time, to achieve their goals, they cover or even sponsor the neo-Nazis and right-wing populists. Major media shamefully equate Nazi Germany to the GDR and the Soviet Union. As a continuation of the anti-communist policy, symbols of the Red Army are banned, while the Nazis march through the streets freely, attacking communists and anti-fascist activists.

In Ukraine, the Nazis took part in the civil war and anti-democratic coup, to establish a government with fascists, focused on the interests of the EU and NATO, who want to control the natural and energy resources of the country and its geopolitical position. EU aggression has its origins in the contradiction with capitalist Russia and leads to a military siege of Russia, increasing the threat of war and threatening peace in the region.

In general, imperialist contradictions are growing, and reactionary conservative parties are gaining momentum in many countries across Europe as the capitalist crisis deepens and they search for ways to resolve it in the interests of the capitalist system. One of their tactics is to blame refugees and other migrant groups for the growth of poverty. Instigating fear of Muslims, they justify war and arms buildup.

As young communists, we continue the tradition of those who most consistently fought against fascism and its sponsors. None of the variants of capitalist rule, including social democracy, defends the hopes and aspirations of young people. Instead of choosing among these options, youth must fight together with the working class for their daily needs. We do this in order to face the anti-democratic developments in many European countries with a common aim. We can unite the youth of Europe in the class struggle for our rights.

In defense of peace and social progress, against imperialism, new international structures were created expressing anti-imperialist unity, such as the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY). WFDY was founded 70 years ago, bringing together youth organizations, which the struggle against imperialism and for the rights of youth continued in each country. Strengthening WFDY was and remains an important task in the face of rising aggressiveness of imperialism.

On the 70th anniversary of the people’s victory over fascism, we should note that, in spite of all the attacks on the rights of young people in Europe, the youth resist and fight!

Join us for a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the people’s victory over fascism! To this end, we encourage the youth of Europe and the world to participate in the activities of the WFDY on May 8-9, 2015.

We call on every country to oppose fascism, anti-communism and war. We are fighting for a society that respects our rights and the everyday needs — real freedom, peace and solidarity. This society is socialism.
