February 11: At 9 pm, a new attack began on the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Eyewitnesses have reported shelling of several areas of the city.
Information from militia fighter, call-sign “Steppe”:
“Right now, from Donetsk. While there are peace talks in Minsk, Donetsk is shelled with mortars, howitzers and self-propelled guns by the Ukrainian fascists. In most parts of the city car alarms are going off, walls and windows are shaking in the central areas and in the suburbs. We hear the sirens of ambulances and emergency vehicles. There is a battle near Yenakievo. Makeeva district came under fire, and rocket artillery in Dokuchaevsk.”
According to the Ministry of Emergency of the Donetsk People’s Republic, a projectile hit the 20th city hospital in the center of Donetsk. According to preliminary data, one person was killed and seven were injured.
“Warheads hit the neurological department and a laboratory for blood sampling. A nurse suffered shrapnel wounds, and seven others, who were in the neurology department, were injured. Also there is one dead, who at the time of the shelling was on the bridge located near the hospital,” said the emergency services.
The hospital laboratory caught fire, and the fire brigade is now working on-site.
