The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, signed a decree “On the declaration of mourning over the tragic events on the territory Donetsk People’s Republic.”
The document states: “Expressing sorrow for the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic who died on Jan. 22, 2015, and condolences to their families and friends,
“I decree:
“1. January 24, 2015, is declared a day of mourning in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“2. On the day of mourning, national flags will be flown at half-mast throughout the Republic.
“3. It is recommend to cultural institutions and broadcasters to cancel entertainment and transactions on January 24, 2015.”
At a meeting with journalists at Donetsk National University, Zakharchenko said: “It will be declared a day of mourning not only for those who died at the “Bosse” bus stop on January 22, it will be a day of remembrance for all the victims of attacks by the Ukrainian punitive forces.”
The head of the Republic said: “I plan to initiate criminal proceedings against the parties involved in this act.”
He also assured the relatives of the victims that they will receive financial compensation.
